Literature Text

"I told you not to do that."

Her pupils were hidden,
focused on the inside of her head.
I can handle it.
Blithe and so sure.

Cue more eye-rolling.
"No you can't."
The pen halts, words never satiated.
I could say more, but that's all
there is to it.

Her cheeks rise
in the too familiar stubborn grin.
Do you have so little faith in your creation?
She mocks me because she knows
me inside and out.

But I know her better.
"I have faith in my knowledge
and I know you can't handle this."
Every path she could take I know.
Of course she picks the roughest.

Her only retort is a brush
off the shoulders
and she's riding to her end.

I watch her go, the only power
I have is the power to dictate
those around her, the power
of expression -

My pen versus her sword.

The end is messy.
My heart twists to witness her reaction,
her emotions and facial expressions.

Why didn't you try and stop me?
Her pain is my own and the answer is
dripping with perverted simplicity.

"Because I like to hurt you."
Written for my poetry workshop.

Initially I hated how it began, but as I wrapped it up I grew to like it a lot, actually.

I created a little line that was a precursor, almost, to this.

"Every writer is a sadist and their characters are better off because of it."

:iconhotdamnplz: That was great! I loved it, especially the ending, how it all wrapped together
